MARTINAL TS-702
Martinswerk, a company of ALBEMARLE, is launching a new thermally stable aluminium hydroxide - MARTINAL TS-702. This finely precipitated aluminium hydroxide (ATH) was primarily developed as fire retardant additive for halogen-free epoxy-based laminates for printed circuit boards. Time to delamination of TS-702 filled laminates is doubled in comparison to standard ATH at solder float temperature of 288 °C. This improvement is achieved by an increased decomposition temperature of up to 15 °C. (acc. to TGA 1 °C/min, 2 % wt. loss) MARTINAL TS-702 is also of interest for application areas with processing temperatures close to the decomposition of standard aluminium hydroxide.

Substitution of TiO2 in paper and board with ATH and synthetic pigments
(Dr. Klaus Kramer)
Titanium Dioxide is widely used in the fine paper furnish in Europe and North America. Its high refractive, the "optimum" and narrow particle size distribution contributes a significant light scattering ability when incorporated into a paper web and causes especially a higher opacity and brightness. However, titanium dioxide is very expensive and papermaker are searching for cheaper alternatives, while retaining the optical performance of the paper sheet. Pigments used for this purpose are called TiO2-extenders...
